Quick Start Guide

Welcome to CaseSolo, the settlement OS for personal injury law firms. Daily work runs on five rooms: intake, medical truth, cited demand, negotiation, and fail-closed IOLTA.

For the pilot path with launch boundaries called out, use the Pilot Quick Start instead.

Before you start

Step 1 — Create your account

  1. Open the CaseSolo registration page.
  2. Enter your name, work email, and a password.
  3. Submit the form, then open the confirmation email and click the verify link.
  4. Sign in with your email and password.

If the code or link expired, request a new one from the sign-in page or ask your admin to re-invite you.

Step 2 — Set up your firm (admins)

After your first sign-in, the onboarding wizard walks you through:

  1. Firm details — Firm name, address, and practice areas (for example,
  2. auto accidents or slip and fall).

  3. Plan — Pick a starting plan. Plans are billed per firm; current tiers
  4. are $29 / $59 / $119 with 50 / 500 / unlimited cases. See Plans & Pricing.

  5. Team invitations — Invite attorneys, paralegals, and staff by email.
  6. Each person gets their own invitation link.

  7. All set — You land on Home and can create your first case.

Staff joining a firm: open your invitation link, create your account, and your role is assigned by the admin. If you get stuck in the wizard on a trial invite, contact your admin — the wizard no longer traps single-seat invites.

Step 3 — Learn the layout (2 minutes)

Open each area once so you know where things live:

| Area | What it is for | |------|----------------| | Home | Five settlement rooms first, then firm overview and urgent work | | Work | Cases, tasks, calendar, deadlines, checklists, depositions | | Clients | Contacts, leads, opposing counsel, experts, providers | | Documents | Upload, organize, and generate legal documents | | Money | Billing, trust, insurance, invoices, revenue, expenses | | AI & Automate | Agents, workflows, firm knowledge, review queues | | Insights | KPIs, reports, and analytics (advanced reports stay behind a toggle) | | Integrations | Connected apps, webhooks, API keys, marketplace, developer tools | | Settings | Firm configuration, security, notifications, branding, diagnostics |

Tips that save time later:

Step 4 — Create your first case

  1. Click Work in the sidebar, then New Case to open the intake wizard.
  2. Enter client information, incident details, and case type.
  3. If the client does not exist yet, create them on the wizard — you are not
  4. bounced to Contacts.

  5. Submit. The case is created with a unique case number (for example,
  6. 2026-0001) and starts at the top of the lifecycle.

Step 5 — Work the five settlement rooms

Follow the rooms in order. The case header always names your next settlement-path move:

  1. Intake — Qualify the lead. A lead opens the overview so you can convert
  2. it to intake.

  3. Medical truth — Add treatments, bills, or records on the medical
  4. chronology page itself. Active Treatment is owned by the first stored treatment, bill, or record.

  5. Cited demand — Generate the demand from stored medical truth on
  6. /cases/:id/demand. The letter carries page-level citations and an exhibit index. Recording delivery marks it delivered; CaseSolo does not email, fax, or mail the letter.

  7. Negotiation — Log offers with a dollar amount (money events require
  8. one). After cited delivery the room offers Log offer; while the matter is negotiable it offers Log acceptance. Settlement is owned by a logged acceptance, never by a status dropdown hop.

  9. Fail-closed IOLTA — Clear open liens first (the ledger names them), post
  10. the IOLTA debit (a debit on a SETTLEMENT matter moves it to DISBURSEMENT), then reconcile. The ledger refuses debits that would overdraw or bypass open liens (TRUST_OPEN_LIENS).

The full walkthrough with every guardrail is in Core Workflows.

Step 6 — Know your role

Your firm admin assigns roles:

| Role | Access level | |------|--------------| | Admin | Full access, firm settings, billing | | Attorney | Cases, documents, tasks, AI tools | | Paralegal | Cases, documents, tasks (limited settings) | | Intake Specialist | Leads, intake, case creation | | Read Only | View-only access |

If you cannot see a case, you may not be assigned to it or your role may not allow access — ask an admin or the supervising attorney.
