Navigating CaseSolo

This guide covers how to move around CaseSolo quickly — the sidebar, the section menus, the dashboard, and search.

The primary sidebar

The dark rail on the left is your main navigation. Each item is a top-level area of the app:

| Item | What's there | |---|---| | Home | Five settlement rooms (intake, medical truth, cited demand, negotiation, IOLTA) plus firm overview | | Work | Cases, tasks, calendar, deadlines, depositions, checklists | | Clients | Contact directory, leads, opposing counsel, experts, providers | | Communications | Inbox, messages, campaigns, notifications | | Documents | Files, templates, signatures, recordings | | Money | Finances, timesheets, trust, insurance, invoicing | | AI & Automate | Agents, workflows, copilot, knowledge base | | Insights | Analytics, KPIs, reports, productivity | | Integrations | Connected apps, marketplace, webhooks, API keys | | Settings | Firm settings, users, billing, security |

Section flyouts (the › arrow)

Sections with sub-pages show a small › on the right. Hover the item and a flyout opens listing every page in that section — jump straight to, say, Kanban or Trust without opening the section first. Clicking the item itself takes you to the section's main page.

The inner section rail

When you open a section, a second narrow column appears next to the sidebar showing that section's pages (for example, in Work: All Cases · Kanban · Tasks · Task Board · Calendar · Deadlines · Follow-ups · Depositions · Checklists · Batch · Templates). The page you're on is highlighted. This rail is your in-section navigation on larger screens; on phones and small tablets the same links appear as a horizontal strip at the top of the page instead.

Collapsing the sidebar for more space

To give the page more room, collapse the sidebar to an icon-only rail:

Your choice is remembered — the sidebar stays collapsed (or expanded) across page loads and sessions until you change it.

Home: five settlement rooms

Home leads with five engine rooms: Intake, Medical truth, Cited demand, Negotiation, Fail-closed IOLTA. Each room opens a /cases?room= list that matches its count. Opening a live matter goes to the next settlement move on the file.

The case file uses seven menus: Intake, Evidence, Medical, Demand, Negotiation, Litigation and IOLTA. Open a menu to find its tools. Intake also contains the case overview, client communications and audit tools; Demand contains AI review; IOLTA contains money and disbursement tools. All tools is available from Intake. The menus follow the work in a case and are separate from the five settlement rooms on Home.

The dashboard analytics menu

Advanced reports sit behind an explicit toggle, not the primary Home path. When that suite is open you still see Overview · Caseload · Financials · Deadlines & SOL · Team · Intake & Clients · Compliance · AI Insights. Click any one to open a flyout of the reports inside it. You only see the sections and reports your role can access.

Task-based case search (release pending)

Inside a case, Case tools and Cmd/Ctrl+K accept phrases such as prepare a demand and find missing records. The eight task starters lead to existing workspaces; they do not assess case readiness or execute work. See Find case tools by task. Local browser verification is complete; production availability is pending.

Search anywhere — ⌘K

Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) from anywhere to open the command palette. Search for cases, contacts, tasks, and documents, or jump to any page by name. When the sidebar is collapsed, the search icon at the top of the rail opens the same palette.

What you can see

Navigation adapts to your role. Admin-only reports and pages (revenue, firm scorecards, team performance, compliance, and similar) are hidden for non-admin users, and a section disappears entirely if you can't access anything inside it. See User Roles & Permissions for the full breakdown.
